Cellar Door

137 Moppa Road, Nuriootpa

1.37 km north along Moppa Road after turning off the Sturt Highway.

Our tasting area is set at the rear of a 100 year old villa on a 10 x 6 metre veranda enclosed by weather proof blinds. Literally set in the middle of our vineyards, there are glorious views of the eastern Barossa Hills and the western ridge whilst you are tasting some of the best wines the Barossa region has to offer. Visitors are able to taste our single vineyard wines while absorbing the ambiance of the terroir under which they were produced. We believe a simple unadulterated approach to tasting is the pure experience.

Tasting is by appointment and can be arranged anytime prior to your planned visit to our new, small and personal cellar door. We are able to cater for small groups of up to 10 people. Because of our small operation we are unable to accept buses.

To arrange your visit please contact us.

Moppa Hills Vineyard

Moppa Hills Vineyard is a long established 15 ha vineyard with 11 ha of approximately 40 year old Shiraz, 2 ha of 70 year old Semillon, 1.5 ha of Mataro and 0.5 ha of Grenache. Our vineyard is situated on the easterly facing slopes of the Moppa Hills (Western Ridge of the Barossa Valley) between 310 and 350m ASL. The soils of this region, mostly red brown earths with sandy A horizons over heavy clay with ironstone pebbles, are known to produce some of the finest reds of the Barossa. This region is underlain by limestone giving rise to well drained soils with near neutral pH..

Although this vineyard has been producing grapes for the wine industry for over 70 years, it is only in the past six years that the new owners, Vicki and John Holt have been producing their own small batch single vineyard wines.
